Brunswick Street Baptist Church in Canada raised $1,060 CAD for Leleka

This Easter, a church in Fredericton, New Brunswick did something beautiful. Brunswick Street Baptist Church raised $1,060 CAD for Ukrainian frontline medics — through an Easter fair where Ukrainian volunteers Sergiy Polyachenko and Julia Maljutina offered Easter bread, embroidered jewelry, and hand-woven totes, while church members Alfie Clark and Brian McEwing sold house plants and goods from Africa — all by donation.

Every dollar goes to tactical medical backpacks for medics on the front line.

Brunswick Street Baptist Church has been standing with Leleka since 2023. This is not a one-time gesture. This is a community that keeps showing up. Brian McEwing, member of the church's Missions Committee, put it simply:

"I believe that Brunswick Street Baptist Church has always looked to Jesus' example and His desire that we, as His church should seek opportunities to reach out in His love, to all those in need, especially those who are vulnerable or being persecuted. Over the years God has led us to a wide variety of outreach opportunities both locally and worldwide to provide assistance in areas such as food security, shelter, education, and spiritual support.

When the invasion of Ukraine first took place 4 years ago, BSBC was made aware of a very new and pressing need for precious medical supplies and backpacks to assist the brave medics treating those being wounded on the front lines. As this horrific war sadly continues on today, BSBC is pleased to continue to do whatever we can to help support the Leleka Foundation providing these medical supplies and backpacks. We applaud the work they are doing and pray God's blessings and protection over all those involved in this critical outreach mission”.
