Written over many years and finalized amid the backdrop of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, Black Metal is described by the author as a poetic album that weaves together memory, hope, inevitability, darkness, and resilience. The collection features a range of voices and imagery, including the Kobzar, the Southwestern Railway, God, black metal, and even a lottery ticket — all forming a rich and deeply personal tapestry of the Ukrainian experience.

Each poem appears in both Ukrainian and English, making the work accessible to a broad audience and offering international readers a rare and intimate glimpse into the emotional landscape of wartime Ukraine.

“This book was created to support and raise funds for Leleka Foundation,” said Kyselytsya. “It represents deep trust and immense gratitude to everyone helping Ukrainian medics. Joining the mission to save Ukrainian lives is not just a matter of honor — it’s the very least I can do. And I’m truly thankful for the opportunity.”

Black Metal is available now on Amazon, with 100% of profits going directly to Leleka Foundation’s mission.
